I call them PAQs
A lot of people are curious about our faith and the questions we receive may not be exactly worded as below, but are similar, so this could probably be called a PAQs, or Probably Asked Questions. Feel free to submit questions and I'll add them to the list!
01
I noticed your hobby farm is called Shalom Acres and you have and Old Testament quote in your header. Are you Jewish?
No, we are not. We believe Yahushua (Jesus) is the messiah and the fulfillment of all messianic prophecies in the scriptures.
02
Why do you call Jesus Yahushua? Are you part of the sacred names movement?
No we aren't. We aren't certain what Jesus' name was exactly. At present, we think it's Yahushua but it may have been Yehoshua or something similar. It was probably not Yeshua. "Jesus" is a translation of a transliteration and not at all correct. The name Jesus doesn't offend us, but it's not accurate and we believe we should strive for accuracy in our witness and our worship.
03
Do you believe you have to keep the Old Testament law to be saved?
No, the law doesn't save. The word law in Hebrew is Torah, which means instruction. The Torah teaches us what sin is and how to live a life of blessing. We strive to obey the Torah not to attain salvation, but because of our salvation. In other words, striving to obey the Torah is the evidence of salvation.
04
Jesus speaks of the New Covenant. How can you believe Jesus is the way for the New Covenant and yet seek to keep the law?
The New Covenant is the writing of the Torah on our hearts (Hebrews 8:8-10, Jeremiah 31:31). That doesn't mean the law is done away with, or that we don't have to obey it. It means we will obey it from the heart, with the right intentions. This is one of the reasons Jesus came -- to show us how to live. He obeyed the Torah and we are told specifically to walk as he walked.
